Yokohama can become a place for the construction of an integrated resort

22 gambling operators, including international ones, have joined the process of requesting information for the development of future integrated resorts (IR) projects in the city of Yokohama.

It is expected that the gambling industry will soon begin to operate in Japan, and Yokohama can become one of the best places for organizing legal gambling. That is why the municipal authorities started the process of requesting information, in which 22 companies are interested.

All companies will provide reports and other documents from 10 to 21 September to help the government develop the best strategy for implementing IR. The authorities will compile their own report by March 2019, and then determine whether the IR will be built in Yokohama.

Mayor Fumiko Hayashi insists that nothing has yet been determined regarding the potential application for IR, but experts believe that Yokohama is among the main candidates for the site for the construction of the IR along with the prefectures of Osaka, Nagasaki and Hokkaido.
