US gambling operators reported on financial results

New Jersey: Atlantic City Casino

Atlantic City casinos ended 2018 with good performance in December, pushing the market to a third year of gambling revenue growth.

On Monday, the New Jersey Gambling Enforcement Division reported that nine casino operators received $ 209 million in gambling revenue in December, which is 12.3% more than in December 2017.

December revenues of slot machine halls increased by 10.7% to $ 146.6 million, while revenue from gaming tables increased by 16.2% to $62.5 million. The total income of this sector for the whole 2018 is $2,51 billion, which is 4% more than in 2017, and 0.3% more than in 2016.

Despite the positive dynamics in general, the financial results of individual companies continued the negative trend. For the second month in a row only Resorts Casino & Hotel reports an increase in annual revenue from gambling. Its figures increased by 2.3% - to $14.2 million.

As for other objects, December figures were negative. Harrah's experienced the largest decline. Revenues decreased by 19.3% - to $ 23.6 million.

New Jersey: sports betting sector

New Jersey's licensed betting operators have reported a slight decrease in both the total sports betting and December revenues. Experts believe that this is due to the preparation of people for the Christmas holidays.

Figures released by the New Jersey State Division of Gaming Enforcement's (DGE) show that licensed betting operators earned $319.2 million in revenue, compared with $330.7 million in November.

As for online betting, there is an increase. Revenues in this segment amounted to just over $241 million, which is about $2.4 million more than in November.

Illinois is considering to balance a casino budget

The new governor of Illinois, J.B. Pritzker, clearly outlined his goals for creating a casino at state borders.

“We certainly have opportunities to create new casinos in the state,” - said Pritzker. “So we plan to expand this segment.”
