The Portuguese government has decided not to raise taxes for online operators
The Portuguese government is currently considering changing the tax system for online gambling operators.
Last week, the Portuguese media published information that the tax rate for online gambling operators would be set at 25% and become fixed, while previously it ranged from 15% to 30%, depending on the company's revenues.
However, a few days later, journalists denied this information. According to the new report, the tax on online gambling was excluded from the planned budget. The document was submitted by Parliament.
The discussion regarding the introduction of the new tax system of the gambling industry will begin on October 30. The final vote will take place on November 30th.
Experts believe that this decision is due to the fears of the government that the local regulated gambling market will be abandoned by all operators who would be unprofitable to work in conditions of such high taxation.
