The Netherlands will open online gambling market for international operators

The gambling market of Netherlands will be opened for EU operators

In parallel with the development of strict measures against illegal operators, the Minister of Legal Defense of the Netherlands, Sander Dekker, outlined the plan for the liberalization of online gambling.

The government intends to divide the concepts of gambling and games with elements of chance to reduce the risk of gambling addiction.

The government plans to fight illegal offshore gambling companies by opening a market for international operators. The condition for obtaining a license will be the mandatory availability of office in the Netherlands.

If the bill will be passed, the companies based in the EU will be forced to create a local "representation in the field of prevention of gambling addiction", and also deduct 0.25% of the proceeds to finance the program to fight against gambling addiction.
