Swedish gambling operators are in worse position than expected

The Swedish gambling market has shown modest growth in the first nine months of 2018, despite the fact that local licensed operators report lower sales.

Sweden's gambling regulator Lotteriinspektionen published a report stating that in the nine months since the beginning of the year, the Swedish gambling market had grown by 1.2% compared to the same period last year.

However, sales of licensed operators plummeted by 2.4%. As reported by the media, this situation is more critical than expected. Industry experts predicted a slowdown in market growth of 1.2%.

This was confirmed by the results of recent polls, which indicated that state monopolies were to blame.

Sweden's lottery operators also report a negative period. However, People Games company was the only major lottery in Sweden that reported an increase in online sales.
