Several Macau casinos reported about suspension of activity
On Saturday, several gambling establishments of the special administrative region of China - Macau - suspended their work. These are the objects of Golden Dragon and Ponte 16.
According to media reports, the situation is due to power outages associated with a malfunction of one of the sources of electricity.
CEM, which oversees the supply of electricity to these gambling establishments, states that there were no power outages. Also, the company reported that casino representatives did not turn to them for help to solve the problem.
Ponte suspended the casino for 10 hours. The break did not lead to significant loss of income for the company.
Gaming Inspection, and Coordination Bureau of Macau (DICJ) confirmed that another facility - Golden Dragon casino - was also forced to suspend activities for five hours due to similar problems. The casino is located near the Macau ferry terminal, in the outer harbor of the peninsula.
Gambling was not conducted from 10:00 to 15:00 local time, according to DICJ.
“On January 19, 2019, in addition to the power outages that occurred at Casino Ponte 16, the casino Golden Dragon also temporarily suspended their work. The power supply was restored at 15:00 on the same day,” - the department said.
The regulator also asked the operators for a detailed report on the incident, on the basis of which it will be concluded about the reason for the interruption of normal work of gambling establishments. According to preliminary data, no violations were observed by the casino.
