Scammers use trademarks of licensed Macau operators

Problems of illegal online gambling in Macau has bad impact on licensed operators

Wynn Macau was warned that the growing number of offshore online gambling sites that illegally use the names of licensed Macau casinos poses a threat to the reputation and performance of companies.

According to the Xinhua news agency, last month the police arrested 63 people suspected of involvement in the criminal group. Criminals directed five online gambling sites using the names of New Lisboa Casino and Venetian. SJM Holdings owns Lisboa and Grand Lisboa facilities on the Macau Peninsula, and the famous Venetian Macao, owned by Sands China, which has become the first integrated resort in Kotay.

"These fraudulent sites are managed by high-class professionals who can issue their project for legal business. If attempts to close these sites will not succeed, it can inflict huge damage to our reputation," - Wynn Macau said.

The company stressed that Wynn Macau does not provide services in online gambling.

Other states also struggle with the illegal activities of operators. In early July, information was received that Australia is toughening measures against illegal online gambling.
