Sales of GKL in August increased by 22%
South Korean casino operator Grand Korea Leisure Co Ltd (GKL) announced high numbers of sales in August.
On Wednesday, company representatives said that last month, casino sales brought almost 50.7 billion of South Korean won ($45.3 million), which is 21.8% more than the previous year.
In comparison with July, casino sales in August increased by 37.4%.
Table games bring 46 billion won, demonstrating an increase of 26.8%. Nevertheless, sales from slot machines fell by 12% per annum - to 4.7 billion won.
GKL is a branch of the Korean Tourism Organization, which owns three South Korean casinos for foreigners under the Seven Luck brand: two in Seoul and one in Busan.
The company said that for the first eight months of 2018 casino sales increased by 1.9% per annum - up to 326.4 billion won.
Sales of table games from January to August rose by 4.8% per annum - to 288.4 billion won, and from slot machines - decreased by 16.2%.
The net profit of the casino operator in the second quarter increased by 76.2% per annum and amounted to 27.2 billion won.
Earlier it was reported that South Korean casinos are planning to introduce innovative technologies to counterfeit game chips.
