Melco is an important site for Cyprus - Minister of Tourism
The Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Cyprus Savvas Perdios considers Melco International Development Ltd an important object of the tourism industry on the Mediterranean island.
Last week, Perdios met with the Chairman and CEO of Melco International, Lawrence Ho Yau Lung, at C2 Nicosia, one of the company's casinos, created in collaboration with local partners. Following this, he issued statement.
“We believe that Melco makes an important contribution to the development of tourism in Cyprus, making the island a popular destination for guests. Our goals coincide, and we will closely cooperate in creating the largest casino resort in Europe and including Cyprus in the global tourist map” - Perdios said.
Melco International, the operator of the Philippines Casino Resort City of Dreams Manila, is the largest shareholder in its subsidiary Melco Resorts and Entertainment Ltd, which makes several leading Macau casino resorts on the Nasdaq list, including City of Dreams, Altira Macau and Studio City. Cyprus Casino C2 Nicosia is one of the three casinos in Cyprus, where Melco International operates.
The company plans to open a City of Dreams Mediterranean casino resort in Limassol, an entertainment facility mentioned by Perdios, and two more casinos in Cyprus.
The Financial Mirror reported that Perdios and Ho exchanged views on the Minister’s new tourism strategy and the main objectives of the City of Dreams Mediterranean resort and three other Cypriot casinos. Ho told Perdios about the activities of the gambling establishment in Cyprus, as well as about the design and construction of the resort in Limassol.
