Macau gambling market surpassed analysts' expectations in August
The Bureau of Gambling and Coordination of Macau submitted a report for August 2018. According to its results, gross gaming revenue (GGR) grew by 17.1% year-on-year to $3.3 billion and more than 7% compared to July figures.
The results surpassed analysts' expectations. They predicted a maximum of 15 percent of GGR in August. Union Gaming stressed that this month is usually the most effective in the year, except for February, when the region celebrates the Chinese New Year.
The VIP segment in Macau remained at the same high level. Analysts Union Gaming revealed that the frequency of VIP-games has not changed. The mass segment also showed good results.
Nevertheless, the stable attendance of Macau casino is not a guarantor of good GGR. As the May results showed, despite the growth of tourists, the figure fell by almost 50% compared to April.
