Italian authorities have blocked more than 7,000 illegal websites
The Italian government presented a report to Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli (ADM), which reported that the gambling regulator blocked around 7,000 online gambling sites that violate gambling laws.
The report, which included data for September 2018, showed that local authorities stopped more than 20 million attempts of players to perform operations on the sites of unlicensed operators. The current rules allow Italian authorities to control Internet Service Providers (ISPs).
“The number of violations in this area is reduced thanks to careful control over the actions of gambling service providers. This has created a tremendous deterrent effect in an environment where technological frauds become even more complex and targeted,” - the ADM report said.
In June of this year, the Italian government changed the legislation in the field of gambling. Work rules for bookmakers have been tightened. In addition, the regulator has established new requirements for registering players on gambling sites.
