In South Korea fixed growth of the popularity of table games
Revenues of the casino of the South Korean operator Grand Korea Leisure Co Ltd (GKL) in the first half of 2018 increased by 4.1% per annum, reaching 238.62 billion Korean won ($ 214.2 million).
The main growth of indicators was recorded in table games, where revenues increased by 7.4%, reaching 209.75 billion won. At the same time, the profitability indicators for gambling machines fell significantly - by 14.9% compared to the previous period, the company's representatives said.
GKL is a subsidiary of the governmental body of the Korean Tourism Organization, which in turn is affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea. Under this structure, there are three casinos for foreign visitors operating under the Seven Luck brand: two in Seoul's capital city and one in the southern port city of Busan.
According to official data, the turnover from a casino for foreigners in 2017 decreased by 5.4% compared to 2016.
GKL demonstrates more positive results, as casino profits last month reached almost 36.56 billion won, up 7.2% over the same period last year, but 9.9% lower than last month.
The company reported that the income from board games in June was 32.05 billion won, showing an increase of 12.7% compared to the same period last year. The profit from slot machines exceeded the mark of 4.50 billion won, which is 20.7% less than a year earlier.
