Growth in revenues from gambling recorded in UK
According to the latest report of the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC), gambling revenues for the past year amounted to £14 billion, which is 0.7% more than in the previous reporting period.
The gambling industry is thriving and makes a significant contribution to the country's economy. According to experts, the industry created 100,000 jobs through 152 licensed casinos and more than 8,500 bookmaking offices.
The UKGC reports provide detailed data: 183,928 slot machines and 33,648 FOBT machines registered in the country with generated revenue of £2.8 billion and £1.8 billion, respectively. The gaming industry also makes a generous contribution to charity: The National Lottery provided £1.5 billion for social needs between October 2016 and September 2017, and the lotteries of large communities - £251 million.
Such financial advances are due to the popularity of online casinos, betting and bingo, which represent the remote sector of gambling and account for 35% of the market.
Online casinos offering roulette, blackjack and baccarat with a live dealer brought in an income of £ 4.9 billion from October 2016 to September 2017.
