Gambling operators has great interest in Osaka
Since the legislative branch of Japan has recently adopted the necessary laws to regulate the gambling industry, international operators are eagerly awaiting licensing for activities in this country.
This is one of the reasons why foreign companies are active in Osaka, sponsoring local festivals or making donations to areas affected by the recent earthquake, demonstrating their interest to this region.
Participant of the last Tendzin Matsuri, one of the three largest festivals in Japan, was the chairman of MGM Resorts International, Jim Murren. The operator decided to sponsor the event, because he believes that Osaka is ideal for placing one of the potential integrated resorts.
It is in Osaka will be placed one of the three gambling establishments, but operators will have to face opposition from different regions. The main rivals are Nagasaki, Hokkaido and Yokohama. At the same time, the neighboring Wakayama Prefecture and some other jurisdictions are also considering the construction of an integrated casino resort.
Melco Entertainment plans to invest $ 10 billion in the construction of the IR in Osaka, if this city will be selected as a place for the casino and the operator will receive a license.
"It is rare to find a country of the first world, such as Japan, with its infrastructure, technologies and people. The potential is very large, "- commented casino magnate Lawrence Ho.
Nevertheless, some experts believe that the construction of integrated casino-resorts will not bring the expected results for gambling operators because of too high taxes and restrictions on the area of institutions.
