Cosmopol Casino appeals against the sanctions of the Swedish gambling regulator
Svenska Spel's subsidiary appealed against a fine imposed by a local gambling regulator.
Casino Cosmopol filed an appeal against a fine of €776 thousand imposed by the local gambling regulator Lotteriinspektionen. The supervisory authority fined Svenska Spel for violation related to money laundering.
Representatives of the subsidiary company argue that since there is no clear structure in the country that would provide a single guideline for operators, the penalty is unfair. Per Jaldung, CEO of Casino Cosmopol, noted that the institution complies with the rules for preventing money laundering, since this issue is a priority for the company.
“We appeal the decision of the Lotteriinspektionen mainly because we believe that in this situation the decision on punishment was taken unfairly. In the absence of clear rules and instructions from Lotteriinspektionen, it was inappropriate to decide on a fine,” - added company representative.
Meanwhile, the Swedish gambling regulator continues to issue licenses to international operators. Five more companies received the right to operate in the regulated market in Sweden.
