Control over the gambling business of Belarus will reach a new level
The draft decree “On changing the decrees of the Ministry of Taxes and Levies of the Republic of Belarus on the legal regulation of gambling business” has been published for public comment.
The document was created as part of the execution of the decree "On the improvement of the legal regulation of the gambling business", issued on August 7, 2018. The purpose of its creation is to improve the system of control over gambling establishments, hindering the implementation of criminal activities and money laundering through casinos. The bill involves several changes in the regulation of the gambling industry.
From April 1, 2019, virtual gambling clubs will start working in Belarus. In this regard, several criteria have been defined for identifying the illegal use of funds through an online casino. Among them is the long-term storage by the client of a large amount of money on the gaming account without participating in gambling, the discrepancy between the size of monetary bets and the actual level of the income, and more.
The administration of an interactive gambling club will be obliged to independently conduct procedures to identify the risks associated with money laundering, as well as suspicious transactions.
