Caesars has developed a convention resort casino in Hokkaido
The executive director of the American casino group, Caesars Entertainment Corp, said that the company had responded to a request for information from the Tomakomai city authorities regarding participation in the construction and management of an integrated resort.
Tomakomai Prefecture is an industrial port in Hokkaido - the northernmost island of Japan.
"We responded to the official request of the authorities of the city of Tomakomai, presenting the concept of development of a casino resort," - said in a written statement, President of International Development of Caesars Entertainment, Steven Tait.
The executive director of the company expressed the hope that the original proposal would demonstrate Caesars' commitment to meeting the goals and problems of the local government. The implication was that during the construction of an integrated resort, the safety of nature would be ensured, jobs created and assistance rendered to regional tourism.
The statement followed the company's participation in the two-day Hokkaido IR Showcase event, which took place in Sapporo, the capital of the prefecture, on 9 and 10 of January. The possibility of building an integrated resort in the region was discussed during the showcase event. In addition to Caesars, several other American gambling operators were present at the event, including Hard Rock International Inc. and the regional tribal casino operator of the United States Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority, known as Mohegan Sun. Licensees from Macau Melco Resorts and Entertainment Ltd and the SJM group also made presentations at the event.
The presentation of Caesars Entertainment mentioned, among other things, the economic benefits of the IPPC for the prefecture.
