Bulgarian online gambling sector on the rise

During the first nine months of 2018, the amount of tax deductions from the organizers of online gambling games in Bulgaria increased by 17% compared to the same period last year.

The total tax deduction of online gambling operators amounted to € 57 million. This contributed to the economic growth of the country, as stated by the Bulgarian Trading Association of Manufacturers and Operators of the Gaming Industry (BTAMOI).

“During the 2017/2018, the gambling industry in Bulgaria showed very good results at the national level, based on the increased economic efficiency of the country,” - noted by BTAMOI.

According to forecasts of financial experts, the economy of Bulgaria will grow by 3.6% this year. One of the reasons for such a significant growth is the significant contribution of online gambling operators, the second is the introduction of innovative technologies.

The online gambling segment represents about 10% of the total gambling market in the country. In the nine months until September 30th, the amount of revenues from the sector was € 89 million. This is 30% higher than in the same period last year, despite the reduction in the number of tourists from Turkey, which also affected the casino industry.
