53 Singaporeans arrested for participating in illegal gambling
Singapore police arrested 47 men and 6 women aged from 20 to 79 years for crimes related to gambling.
The Central Police Department conducted the operation with the support of the Central Bureau of Drugs. Сash in the amount of $3,567 were confiscated.
Twelve men were also arrested for violating immigration laws. Four women were detained on charges of prostitution. Nine men and one woman were arrested on suspicion of distributing drugs. During the operation, 235g of drugs were seized.
The police said the investigation into these cases is ongoing. And they added that the authorities would stop criminal activity, and the offenders will be strictly punished in accordance with the law. Those arrested for crimes related to gambling face fines of up to $5,000 and imprisonment for six months if proven guilty.
