Ban on advertising of Bet365, William Hill and 888
Gambling Commission of UK in pare with UK Advertising Committee, have presented claims to companies and the requirement to remove all info that attracts young visitors to gambling.
Now, promotion in online enviroment of the William Hill, Bet365 and 888 companies is prohibited by ASA (Ad Committee) and UKGC (Gambling Commission). Letters of notification from the relevant bodies were sent to more than 400 online gambling resources, which were required to delete all cartoony ads, because they attracted the underage audience to gambling games.
All materials using characters from children's books or cartoons, which may interest younglings to visit resources of betting companies should be removed.
Notifications also strongly recommend the compliance of promo-materials with the rules and norms of the advertising bureau in relation to games, especially those of special interest to children (cartoony and colorful). I wanted to note, that teenage gambling in UK is a big problem, the most popular type of gambling among British kids is sports betting.
Sky Vegas, Casumo, 888 and Ladbrokes back in September were rated negatively by the British advertising committee. The promotion of the operators described above is irresponsible, as it encourages subscribers to solve personal and financial difficulties by playing slots and not all advertising slogans have been submitted by operators for review to ASA, but have been published without censorship.
Thus, UKGC and ASA are strengthening the impact on social responsibility in the gambling segment.
